Summary
The Test Engineer SME I will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and managing integrated, production, and service delivery systems that assure performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule adherence, and cost control within the production site. The goal is to enhance profitability, effectiveness, adaptability, responsiveness, quality, and the continuous improvement of products and services throughout their life cycles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the Site Test Engineering Subject Matter Expert for the assigned test area.
- Support other engineers and resolve questions that arise.
- Coordinate and facilitate training for new hires, functionality updates, and upgrades.
- Track and communicate all process changes and enhancements.
- Support users and the Principal Engineer.
- Ensure compliance with established processes.
- Lead the implementation of Jabil best practices as Site SME.
- Manage global and regional TE systems, tools, and applications.
- Conduct machine/tester and process evaluations.
- Maintain and develop documentation for the responsible area.
- Participate in idea and information exchange within the department.
- Support audits and customer visits.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities by streamlining processes.
- Drive continuous improvement through trend analysis and metrics management.
- Propose and implement new practices and processes.
- Ensure 100% adherence to company policies on health, safety, and quality.
- Maintain confidentiality of data and proprietary information.
- Communicate key Test Engineering metrics to regional teams.
- Advise Business Unit Coordinators on test process reliability.
- Lead process improvement activities for New Product Introduction.
- Coach and train engineers within the Test Engineering team.
- Standardize Jabil processes site-wide in line with global strategies.
- Share best practices with regional and global TE teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Management & Supervisory Responsibilities
Typically reports to management, such as Sr Test Engineering Manager. This role does not directly manage staff.
Job Qualifications
Knowledge Requirements
- Experience with test engineering tools and systems (e.g., measurement tools, simulation, test equipment).
- Knowledge of ICT, AOI, AXI, FP, and debugging techniques.
- Understanding of product architecture and test standards.
- Strong technical, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proven success in change management, continuous improvement, and cost reduction.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years in Test Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
