Job summary

The Test Equipment Specialist III role focuses on planning, developing, and deploying test equipment, ensuring maintenance, and driving continuous improvement across production and lab environments at our Guadalajara, Mexico site.

The position emphasizes hands-on testing, equipment setup, documentation, and collaboration with internal and external partners to meet regulatory and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of experience in automotive lighting manufacturing.
• Expertise in test equipment technologies, including measurements and validation.
• Hands-on with EOL, Blackbox, and Mateo testing systems.
• Strong knowledge of test parameter definition, process validation, and MPY/performance monitoring.
• Advanced English proficiency with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, create, and agree test concepts for components and systems; support requirement specs.
• Plan test equipment considering regulations, standards, data sheets, and supplier quotations.
• Procure materials and ensure on-time delivery.
• Create or modify test software and design test circuits with partners.
• Set up and verify new test equipment domestically or abroad; train users.
• Create and update all relevant documentation.
• Monitor test equipment in production and laboratory; implement improvements and cost reductions.
• Support production and laboratory teams with failure analysis, maintenance, and calibration.
• Participate in project teams for product-related cost improvements.

Test Equipment Specialist III

Job Objective

Execution of planning, development and implementation of test equipment as well as monitoring / maintenance and introduction of improvement measures

Duties and Responsibilities

A Testing

1. Planning, creating and agreeing test concepts (models, set-ups, simulations, test circuits) for components, sub-assemblies, devices and systems; involvement in/supporting the creation of requirement specifications and test specifications


2. Planning of test equipment in consideration of Hella regulation, Hella standards and legal requirement specifications, data sheets and specifications for new products and preparing of quotations together with internal or external partners


3. Determine and arranging of procurement of needed material, components and systems. Following up the procurement process to ensure the in time delivery


4. Creating/Changing or arranging creation/change of test software as well as designing test circuits in agreement with the affected partners


5. Set up and verification of new test equipment in domestic plant or abroad as well as arrangement and execution of user trainings


6. Create and update all relevant documentation


7. Executing in monitoring of the used test equipment in the running production and laboratory as well as suggestion and implementation of improvement / cost reduction action (continuous improvement)


8. Involvement in the processing of customer claims and production difficulties in agreement with e. g. quality department, production, laboratory


9. Daily direct support to production and laboratory for failure analysis, maintenance, repair and calibration of test equipment and test software together with internal and external partners

B Projecting

1. Participate in project teams for any kind of product / product family related cost improvements

Your Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of experience in automotive lighting manufacturing (headlamps and taillamps).


• Expertise in test equipment technologies, including light intensity, electrical current validation, coding, and functional testing.


• Hands-on experience with End-of-Line (EOL), Blackbox, and Mateo testing systems.


• Strong knowledge of test parameter definition, process validation, quality standards, and MPY/performance monitoring.


• Advanced English proficiency with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
