A North American railway company is seeking a Signal Maintenance Technician in Xalapa-Enríquez, Veracruz. The role involves preventive and corrective maintenance of signal systems to ensure safe train operations. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and two years of relevant experience in railroad operations. A strong understanding of electronics is preferred. This position may require shift work to support railroad operations continuously.

Description

This position is responsible to provide preventive and corrective maintenance to each signal and warning device in assigned territory in a specified time to provide fluent and secure train movements.

Accountabilities
  • Provides preventive maintenance to each equipment, conducts the assigned tasks through work orders (WO) according to the standards and effective procedures to assure their availability.
  • Repairs faults or temporary interruptions of signal and warning devices, within a response time established in the objectives of the signal area.
  • Reports the causes of those interruptions directly to the Signal help desk.
  • Performs preventive maintenance of signal and warning devices, through work orders based on current standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrates operational excellence by knowing and applying the business requirements. Demonstrates customer focus and contingency planning to ensure stakeholder expectations are met.
  • Understands the relevant business metrics and applies effective tactics to sustain a culture of operational effectiveness that produces teams of high performing, engaged and empowered operational leaders.
  • Identifies when a rule/regulation/policy has been violated and has one-on-one accountability conversations with an individual who has not met expectations, using KCS Candor, Aligning the Stars & KCS ABC's, and have the individual produce better results.

Required
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
  • High School diploma.
  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant operations experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Acumen in one or more disciplines of railroad operations.
  • Electronic/Electromechanical technician or engineer.
Preferred
  • Knowledge in electronics, electricity and computing.
Working Conditions
  • Shift work is an essential function of this job. Employees must have the ability and willingness to support critically important railroad operations 24 hours per day/7 days per week, working various shifts as assigned. Schedule assignments may include after-hours, weekends and holidays.
