Kohler Co. is seeking a Technical Illustrator to develop installation and service illustrations for kitchen and bath products. You will work onsite in Monterrey, using IsoDraw and CAD data to translate 3D models into clear 2D representations for end users.

Responsibilities include project leadership, creating labels, and ensuring consistency with standards. Strong visualization and communication skills are essential, along with CAD proficiency and teamwork across regions.

Formación

• Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent illustration experience with CAD tools such as Pro-E/Creo.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, IsoDraw, or similar software.
• Ability to translate 3D data to 2D drawings and identify parts in 3D assemblies.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with DIY home improvements.
• Ability to draw product freehand from sight and to manipulate 3D assemblies.
• Strong cross-functional and written/verbal communication skills.
• Experience managing complex projects and coordinating with offshore teams.

Opportunity

BASIC FUNCTION

Solid technical illustrator or "CAD-lite" with desire to transition to technical illustration.

Responsible for the project management, scope consultation, and execution of technical illustrations for kitchen and bath products in order to clearly convey technical information for non-technical end users. Work is developed using PTC IsoDraw, utilizing 3D CAD models and engineering drawings as source files. Types of illustrations include: isometric views, installation illustrations, servicing illustrations, and service parts diagrams.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Exhibits strong project leadership in the planning, scheduling, and organizing of illustration projects to support literature development; communicates and negotiates to appropriately apportion time and other resources.
• Creation of product labels, on-box packaging art, and other illustration-adjacent deliverables as needed.
• Understands regional and business requirements and determines project scope of Technical Communication deliverables; owns the deliverable timing and execution.
• Has initial development and quality responsibility for technical product literature as assigned – covering product information, installation, use, and/or servicing.
• Follows and supports maintenance of illustration standards, style guides, and process documentation to ensure consistency across all deliverables.
• Recommends and supports maintenance of technical communication requirements, standards, and processes.
• Contributes to the advancement of Technical Communication discipline/processes and strategic project execution.
• Represents department in matters of technical content and usability of publications.
• Solicits from and contributes to profession through external activities.

Skills/Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED

• Associate degree in a technical field and experience using 3D modeling software (Pro-E/Creo experience preferred) OR illustration experience with demonstrated technical aptitude, including the use of a CAD tool such as Pro-E/Creo or similar software.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, PTC IsoDraw, or similar software
• Demonstrated visualization skills – the ability to translate between two- and three-dimensional data views, identify parts of 3D assemblies, and convert 3D to 2D drawings.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with Do-It-Yourself home improvements.
• Ability to draw product freehand from sight when necessary.
• Ability to manipulate, rotate and explode 3D assemblies.
• Demonstrated spatial ability to create/organize illustrations to clearly convey technical information for non-technical end users.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and self-prioritize.
• Proven cross-functional, interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency in managing complex projects and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Proficiency in written and verbal communication required for collaborative work with off-site and off-shore team members.
• Ability to collaborate with global team members across different regions and occasionally adjust communication or meeting availability to support time zone differences.
• Working proficiency with database use and excel spreadsheets.

PREFERRED

• At least 2 years of experience in plumbing product installation, design, or documentation preferred, but will substitute similar experience in a related technical/manufacturing field.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Indesign.
• Working knowledge of SAP.
