Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Ciénega de Flores, Nuevo León is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to act as the trusted advisor to the supply base, driving Lean, APQP, and PPAP readiness and ensuring robust supplier quality across the manufacturing network.

You will collaborate with suppliers and engineering, review APQP docs, generate quality reports, and support CPPD/NPI initiatives to achieve continuous process improvement and production readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree related to Quality / Manufacturing / Engineering.
• Advanced English-speaking level is required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with suppliers and engineering to ensure process control standards are in place.
• Provide technical support during start-up activities and ongoing strategic support.
• Review APQP documentation (e.g., Process FMEA, Process Control Plans, Gage R&R). Participate in process FMEA for suppliers’ manufacturing processes.
• Generate reports on supplier quality, monitor defect rates, and guide defect reduction.
• Resolve problems between supplier and plants, suppliers, and engineering personnel, and between facilities.
• Research and assess potential vendors, conduct supplier quality audits to ensure compliance with policies and standards.
