Vertiv is seeking a Production Supervisor in Monterrey to lead manufacturing activities, drive continuous improvement, and ensure safety and quality across lines. You will oversee tradeoffs between productivity, efficiency, and cost while coaching leaders and coordinating with planning and support teams.

The role requires 4–8 years of manufacturing or engineering experience, a bachelor's degree, bilingual English-Spanish preference, and expertise in MRP/ERP systems.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing or engineering experience.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP, Oracle preferred.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge (5S, Kaizen, TPM, Kanban)

Job Description

Will be responsible for the overall safety, health, environment, quality, service, cost productivity, employee morale, and the proper maintenance, discipline, and follow‑up of the 5S’s in all assigned areas, as well as the attendance and active participation in Tier 2 and Tier 3 meetings. The Supervisor is responsible for managing overtime, efficiencies, scrap, ensuring proper shift startup, leading Kaizen initiatives, participating in LPA audits, and driving effective performance management of the area. The Supervisor must coach the Team Leader, ensuring escalated topics are resolved, and acts as the process leader who drives solutions.

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor serves as a liaison to management on manufacturing, quality, process and engineering related issues. Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workers, such as inspectors, assemblers, fabricators, machines, tool setters, test and other plant and system operators. A successful Supervisor can anticipate and adapt to change, make the required adjustments to schedules, promote two‑way communication, foster organizational culture and values, assess operator performance, develop teams, and drive continuous improvement within the assigned work areas.

Responsibilities
  • Capable of managing a new product line or participating in product transfer projects.
  • Monitor production metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, identify areas for improvement, and report on departmental performance to management.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods, such as assembly, inspectors, machines and fabricators.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals. Maintain capacity plans to meet or changes as required.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures or assign employee training to experienced workers.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Keep records of employees' attendance and hours worked.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs. In partnership with Management develop solutions, programs and procedures.
  • Communicate daily the customer's order status and corrective actions required to maintain schedule and quality. Prepare action plans to recover production or past dues.
  • Collaborate with the production planning team to develop production schedules, prioritize orders, and allocate resources effectively to meet production targets.
  • Ensure that all manufacturing activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. Conduct regular safety inspections and promote a culture of safety among production staff.
  • Conduct regular 5S’s audits within assigned areas and Gemba Walks, ensuring proper implementation, discipline, and timely follow‑up on findings to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Attend Tier 2 meetings to receive escalations from operational personnel through Team Leaders, provide feedback, define corrective actions, and ensure rigorous follow‑up on the action plan.
  • Attend Tier 3 meetings to elevate issues that require APU Manager support, communicate production risks, and collaborate in developing cross‑functional solutions and recovery plans.
  • Ensure proper follow‑up of the Andon system, making sure alerts are raised appropriately during line stoppages or when support from other departments is required, and coordinating timely response from support teams.
  • Oversee and ensure follow‑up on action items generated through the Vertiv Rapid Problem Solving (VRPS) process, validating containment, corrective actions, and long‑term improvements.
  • Manage overtime, production efficiency, and scrap performance.
  • Ensure proper shift start‑up, including resource allocation, line readiness, and communication of priorities.
  • Lead Kaizen activities and continuous improvement events within the assigned production areas.
  • Participate in and ensure compliance with LPA (Layered Process Audit) requirements.
  • Drive effective performance management of the area, ensuring targets, discipline, and accountability.
  • Maintain at least 60% presence on the production floor to supervise operations and support operators.
  • Coach the Team Leader, ensuring they resolve escalations effectively and develop problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Act as the process leader, responsible for resolving issues impacting flow, quality, and production performance.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 4-8 years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
  • At minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing or engineering. Experience in Industrial, HVAC (Heat, Ventilation & Air Conditioned), Automotive, Health care, Telecommunications, Fabrication, or Electrical Power Generation a plus.
  • Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Personnel and Human Resources — Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, safety and labor relations
  • Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Bilingual, English - Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP, ORACLE, system preferred.
  • Desirable knowledge of lean manufacturing tools such as: 5s, Andon, SMED, Job Standardization, TPM, Value Stream Mapping, Continuous Flow, KPIs, Kanban, Just in time, Takt time, Visual Management, Bottleneck Analysis, Gemba, Hoshin Kanri, Kaizen, PDCA, Poka-Yoke, Root Cause Analysis, The 8 ds, Total Quality Management (TQM), among others.
Physical & Environmental Demands
  • Protective Equipment Required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, etc.)
  • The role is primarily based on a manufacturing facility, requiring regular site visits and interaction with production teams.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols.
  • This role requires spending 60% of the time on the production floor, supervising operations and supporting daily manufacturing activities.
  • The remaining 40% of the time may involve attending meetings, completing administrative tasks, or participating in coordination and planning activities.
  • Work responsibilities alternate between production‑floor presence and office‑based tasks, depending on operational priorities.
