Supervisor, Mexico Operations – Job Specific Tasks and Duties

This section lists the job-specific tasks and duties, that are completed on a regular basis by the employee.

  1. Work with Tradewin US employees to determine and execute specific tasks and activities
  2. Use Tradewin or Customer systems to:
    1. Create Commercial and Shipping Documents
    2. Review companies and people against government lists for matches
    3. Request documents from Mexico, US, and Canada-based suppliers
  3. Communicate with suppliers, in Spanish and English, on Free Trade Agreement data and document requirements, predominately USMCA, CUSMA, T-MEC.
  4. Supervise a team of 1-5 trade analysts based in Mexico. Conduct interviews and performance reviews, provide employee feedback, and assist with hiring decisions.
  5. Oversee operational activities performed by trade analysts in Mexico.
  6. Provide consulting advice to US companies on issues in the Mexico market, including, but not limited to, Classification, Free Trade Agreement use, Import and Export requirements, and the IMMEX program.
  7. Work collaboratively with Expeditors colleagues in Mexico.

Qualifications

Below are requirements for the position:

  1. University degree in International Business (or related field);
  2. 3-5 years of prior experience in customs brokerage, free trade agreements, and/or foreign trade management;
  3. Understanding of the HTS Classification schedule and process;
  4. Understanding of and experience with document solicitation and bill of material qualification (Origin Analysis) for free trade agreements;
  5. Understanding of and experience with Pedimento;
  6. Competent PC skills, including all Microsoft Office applications. Power BI, SharePoint, and SAP or Oracle experience desired;
  7. Effective interpersonal skills;
  8. Prior supervisory experience;
  9. Proficient spoken and written English;
  10. Able to maintain strong relationships with all internal stakeholders;
  11. Able to drive processes and process improvements without supervision.

The below skills and abilities are preferred but not mandatory:

  1. Experience with IMMEX audits and IMMEX program management;
  2. Participation and understanding of supply chain security programs (OEA/CTPAT);
  3. Pedimento Accuracy Audits;
