What you will do:

  • Deliver breaking and developing stories quickly, accurately and at peak audience interest
  • Edit and optimize headlines, applying SEO best practices to improve discoverability and engagement
  • Use analytics and audience insights to inform editorial decisions and timing of coverage
  • Help train and inform reporters, editors and visual teams across the AP to strengthen storytelling and responsiveness
  • Coordinate evergreen edits and obituary preparedness that will resonate when news breaks
  • Maintain high editorial standards across all published content, ensuring accuracy, clarity and fairness under deadline pressure
Who you are:
Required qualifications:
  • Proven track record of creating engaging digital video storytelling that has a strong impact on audiences
  • Proven track record of voicing video stories with tracks that are dynamic and engaging, and the ability to train others to do the same
  • Confidence in on-camera presentation, with strong delivery and clarity
  • Proven track record of producing stories creatively using graphics, effects and other tools that enhance storytelling, to make video stories engaging for audiences in all digital formats, including vertical video for social media
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and act on trending stories and audience engagement signals in real time
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor others to produce a compelling news report
  • Have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, such as at least five years of full-time experience at a daily newspaper, broadcast station, online or digital news outlet, or an AP bureau or regional desk
  • Have excellent news judgment and the ability to make fast, accurate editorial decisions under tight deadlines
  • Have strong writing skills in English, with the ability to write clearly and succinctly to picture
  • Be familiar with verification of user-generated content, including reverse image search, geolocation and other tools
  • Proficiency in video editing software, such as DaVinci Resolve
  • Authorization to work in Mexico
  • As AP is a 24/7 global news organization, you must be willing and able to work regular overnight and weekend shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using CMS platforms and audience metrics to inform editorial decisions and enhance the reach and impact of digital content
  • Experience at a global news organization
  • Professional competency in world languages other than English

Application deadline is November 3, 2026 at 11:59 P.M. ET.
