Job summary

Hovland Barnes, a leading international strategy consulting firm, invites you to join its Mexico City office as a Strategy Analyst. You will work on high-impact engagements covering corporate and business strategy, due diligence, investment decisions, and M&A.

You will solve complex problems through structured analysis, build financial models in Excel, and present clear recommendations to senior client stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited program.
• 1–2 years of direct consulting experience, preferably in strategy or transactions.
• Fluent English (C1+), with experience on international projects.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills for modeling and presentations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex business problems through structured, data-driven analysis.
• Build financial and business models, market sizing, and analytical tools in Excel.
• Research markets, competitors, and industry trends, including interviews and surveys.
• Deliver clear insights and present recommendations to senior client stakeholders.
• Develop deep industry knowledge and grow with increased responsibility.
• Contribute to internal initiatives such as recruiting, mentoring, and community projects.

The Opportunity

Join our client as a Strategy Analyst in its Mexico City office. You will work on high-impact engagements covering corporate and business strategy, due diligence, investment decisions, and M&A.

• You will solve complex business problems through structured, data-driven analysis.
• You will build financial and business models, market sizing, and analytical tools in Excel.
• You will research markets, competitors, and industry trends, including expert interviews and survey analysis.
• You will turn analysis into clear insights and help present recommendations to senior client stakeholders.
• You will develop deep industry knowledge and grow quickly with increasing responsibility.
• You will contribute to internal initiatives such as recruiting, mentoring, and community projects.
• The role follows a hybrid work model based in Mexico City.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in any field (engineering, economics, finance, business, sciences, and others are all welcome).
• 1–2 years of direct experience in consulting, ideally in strategy, transactions, or advisory practices. Consulting experience is a must.
• Exposure to clients in traditional industries is a plus.
• Fluent English (C1 level or higher), as you will work on international projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with solid case-solving ability.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Resilience in a fast-paced, demanding environment: high tolerance for stress and frustration, and the ability to take feedback and keep moving.
• Energized by variety and new challenges rather than routine.
• Curious, open, and collaborative, with a calm, grounded, and approachable personality.
• Eager to learn and grow in strategy consulting over the coming years (not currently applying to MBA programs).

Work Authorization Requirements

• Applicants must be authorized to work in Mexico on a full-time basis.
• A valid U.S. visa is strongly preferred for international travel and training.
