ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Senior Software Engineer at Oportun, you will be a key member of our Foundations & Shared Libraries engineering team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining sophisticated software solutions in achieving the charter of the engineering group. Your mastery of a technical domain enables you to take up business problems and solve them with a technical solution. With your depth of expertise and leadership abilities, you will actively contribute to architectural decisions, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable software solutions that advance our impact in the market. This is a role where you will have the opportunity to take up responsibility in leading the technology effort – from technical requirements gathering to final successful delivery of the product - for large initiatives (cross- functional and multi-month longprojects).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, implement, and manage scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Ensure the high availability, performance, and reliability of cloud services.
• Utilize Kubernetes to orchestrate and automate the deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize Kubernetes configurations for diverse workloads.
• ArgoCD And FluxCD Expertise
  • Leverage above for GitOps-based continuous delivery of applications.
  • Utilize packer for packaging, versioning, and deploying applications.
• Infrastructure As Code (IaC)
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Maintain version-controlled infrastructure code for repeatability and scalability.
• Monitoring And Logging
  • Implement and manage monitoring and logging solutions for cloud-based applications.
  • Work closely with the DevOps team to enhance observability and troubleshoot issues effectively.
• Security And Compliance
  • Implement and enforce security best practices for cloud infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Collaboration And Documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and provide technical expertise.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure, configurations, and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms AWS.
• Proficient in Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Familiarity with containerization and microservices architecture within EKS using Knative Services
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Grafana Stack, NewRelic).
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
