Our team is at the forefront of embracing new technologies and processes which help developers to deliver features faster, safer, and more sustainably.

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer, working on the Platform Engineering team, you will participate in driving the architecture and implementation of the next generation of developer tools and platforms. This platform enables software developers across Zillow Group (ZG) to quickly build and maintain products. Our work has a significant impact in support of Zillow's mission to build the most trusted home-related marketplace in the world!

• A metrics driven approach and can make informed decisions using data
• Thinks about systems — their edge cases, failure modes, and lifecycles
• Works with the leadership team to drive the technical strategy and roadmap for the adoption of new tools and standards in the platform
• Identifies cultural and process improvement opportunities
• Raises the bar on technical excellence and mentor other engineers
• Establish relationships with senior leadership and help drive strategy
• Collaborates and optimally connects with multi-functional teams comprising of business partners, engineers, and product management to produce the best solutions possible
• Is a champion of the Platform team, and helps gain adoption across the various teams at Zillow Group

This role has been categorized as a teleworker position. Teleworkers do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any part of Mexico, but preferably in Mexico City, as we would encourage attendance for occasional in-office events.

In addition to a competitive base salary and benefits, this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location.

Who you are

You are passionate about building high-quality software products. You enjoy finding new and better ways to deliver quality products and strive for continuous improvement. You are an excellent communicator with technical teams as well as business leaders. We are looking for someone who has a breadth of experience using tools and practices that can apply the right solution for each problem.

• 6+ years experience in leading the design and development of highly available systems at scale
• A proven track record as a multi-functional technical leader
• High efficiency and quality in software design, development, testing, and debugging issues across the whole stack

You demonstrate expertise in:

• Programming languages like Golang, Python
• Cloud technologies and providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Containerization and Container orchestration with Kubernetes

You have experience with:

• CNCF landscape and tools like Karpenter, OpenTelemetry, Istio, etc.
• Service discovery and service mesh technologies such as Istio
• Kubernetes configuration tools like helm, kustomize
• Provisioning, operating, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters
• REST and microservices architecture
• Infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code solutions like Terraform
• Reliability, Monitoring and AI Ops tools such as Prometheus, DataDog, Nagios, Zabbix, Splunk, SumoLogic, New Relic
