Kohler Co. is seeking a Senior Project Engineer at their Reynosa Plant, focusing on the design and development of stainless steel kitchen sinks. Opportunity
As a key technical contributor to New Product Development, a Senior Project Engineer for Stainless Steel Kitchen Sinks is uniquely positioned to identify and drive new innovations and user experiences. If you’re the type of engineer who likes to get into the details of a design but also craves the understanding of how your work fits into the larger picture, this position is for you. Working in cross-functional teams, you will design and validate parts, assemblies, and systems that delight consumers. Driving speed and quality of product launches will directly contribute to Kohler’s leadership in the global kitchen and bath industry.
How You’ll Contribute
Innovation and New Product Design: Stay ahead of competition: research customer needs to inspire innovative features. Participate in and conduct technical feasibility analysis of new concepts. Collaborate with engineering peers for insight. Structure and coordinate test requests, bills of materials, engineering timelines, technical communications, and other engineering activities in support of new product launches.
Competitive benchmarking: Study products in the market to determine key points of differentiation for Kohler to pursue and bring enhanced experiences to customers.
Value improvement: Analyze opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining or improving performance of stainless-steel sinks: identify, track, and complete projects. Understand a product’s design intent, while also understanding the manufacturing process. Help bridge the gap and move stainless steel sinks to the next level of performance, cost, efficiency.
Support Continuous Improvement: Understand operational strategy and manufacturing capabilities. Provide support to plant initiatives, with efficient product design and consumer impact in mind.
Manage idea sharing: Between the manufacturing plant and the engineering/development center in Wisconsin, ensure ideas are shared and constraints understood, to help drive efficient communication globally.
Define what good looks like: Support advanced development and advanced process projects with a design engineering lens to understand measurement and performance goals.
Collaborate to succeed:Partner with your cross-functional teammates in Marketing, Purchasing, Quality, Manufacturing, Program Management, and Industrial Design. Face the hard decisions head-on and use the variety of team perspectives to generate better solutions. Recommend next steps and drive alignment with business leadership to launch quality products with speed and consistency.
Help make us better: Evaluate designs for environmental sustainability and recommend improvements. Visit customers or engage experts to understand installation needs and opportunities for quality improvements.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
· Documents and achieves product specifications: customer, regulatory, and technical requirements.
· Assures functional acceptability through application of engineering tools, analysis, and testing.
· Prepares detailed projects and/or technical plans for product development and/or improvement.
· Interfaces with senior engineers, support personnel, and outside groups involving product design, documentation, development, drafting, prototype construction, and test of product concepts.
· Documents and presents experiences to share knowledge within and outside the department.
· Contributes to improvement of products and processes.
· Uses CAD software for the realization of concepts or designs.
· Occasional travel to visit suppliers, customers, tradeshows, and other Kohler locations as required.
· Research technology.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
