Job Description

The Senior Production Manager is responsible for managing production activities of a business unit to deliver products that meet quality specifications, achieve or exceed service level and cost targets while ensuring employees' safety, complying with applicable regulations and company policies.

Under indirect supervision, works with the Director of Manufacturing to establish short to midterm strategies to assure employee engagement, culture deployment, talent management, cost reduction – cost management, and continues improvement processes.

This role requires collaboration with all the departments at the site and at corporate offices to ensure alignment and flawless plan execution. The Senior Production Manager needs to participate, support, and sometimes lead the introduction of new processes, new products, and new technical platforms targeted for his areas of influence.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Department Goals Deployment (i.e., Hoshin Kanri (HK) X3/X4) aligned to Site Overall Goals & Objectives (X2), measure department metrics (KPIs) to monitor performance and coordinates actions to ensure improvements.
  • Review production plan and coordinate manufacturing resources to ensure timely delivery of products while complying with Quality System requirements.
  • Interact and collaborate with other departments to solve any restriction that may stop or slow down production, including material, personnel, equipment, and process issues.
  • Responsible for department budget planning (HC, Suppliers, equipment purchases) and expense management to meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Identify and coordinate cost reduction projects including labor productivity, material usage, defect reduction, space, and inventory optimization using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
  • Foster implementation of preventive and corrective actions that may result from production non-conformances, audit observations, CAPA, and others (VRs, PLs, NCRs, DNs, FE, EEs).
  • Ensure compliance with ISO and Environment, Health, and Safety requirements, as well as all applicable company procedures and policies.
  • Provide timely and effective support for new products introduction and existing process transfers to the department.
  • Effective management of employee development plans (OPT & TAPs).
  • Constantly review direct reports' training curricula in ISU.
  • Foster performance and teamwork culture as well as rewards and recognition.
  • Partnership with Human Resource department to address personnel-related activities.
  • Accountable for communicating to upper management business-related issues per escalation process.
  • Responsible for ensuring employees follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety, and Environmental practices. Ensure all the resources required to do so are available and in good condition.
  • Responsible for ensuring employees comply with Federal, State, local, and Company regulations, policies, as well as procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned as needed.
  • Mentor and develop team members through tactical problem-solving, define clear performance objectives, and translate challenges into growth opportunities to drive team engagement to meet department and organizational goals.
  • Responsible for attracting and retaining talent.
  • Complete Performance and feedback process (C.I.P and MERIT) per Company guidelines to direct reports.
  • Drive our Culture Strategy by fostering our mission, founding principles, individual and leadership expectations.
Qualifications
Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:
Education/ Experience
  • BS in Engineering or Business Administration.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Medical Devices experience is mandatory.
  • Green Belt / Black Belt Certified in Lean-Sigma is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the medical industry (Production, Engineering, Planning, Quality) preferable.
  • 5+ years of Production Manager / Superintendent or personal management (Coaching and Talent Development).
  • 3+ years of experience with Continuous Improvement Manufacturing Systems (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, etc.), Project Management, Product Transfer / NPI.
  • Experience with ERP and planning systems (SAP, Agile, o9) preferred.
Skill/ Job Requirements
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English and Spanish with the ability to do effective presentations for different organizational levels.
  • Knowledge of the Quality System requirements such as ISO-13485 and MDSAP.
  • Knowledge of Operations Management, including resources and capacity planning as well as project management.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement through Continuous Improvement methodologies (Lean Sigma, Root Cause problem-solving techniques).
  • Knowledge of Financial concepts applied to Manufacture, including budget preparation and spending management.
  • Excellent leadership, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage complexity and translate it into actions.
