Job Summary

Responsible for controlling production batches, acting as the interface between planning and inventory control to ensure the proper mix and quantity of products are produced to satisfy the finished goods production plan, preventing overproduction to minimize liability and continuously improve the performance of the WIP DII (Materials KPI).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Work with Planning and Inventory Control to minimize excess inventory in the production line, such as semi-finished goods and raw materials.
  2. Lead order processing activities for major customer units.
  3. Advise non-exempt associates on daily priorities of customer requests.
  4. Monitor and proactively address issues impacting performance related to ship date, lead-time, response time, and inventory goals.
  5. Coordinate with Master Scheduler to manage product lifecycle and related materials availability.
  6. Drive process improvements within and outside the area of Order Management.
  7. Plan, schedule, coordinate, and approve product releases based on material and capacity availability.
  8. Supervise production launches, eliminations, and engineering changes to ensure compliance with customer deliverables and avoid obsolescence or unnecessary storage.
  9. Support banking/buffering activities in response to volume changes.
  10. Maintain daily contact with supervisors and production leaders to monitor the production plan and serve as the link between Master Planning, Inventory Control, and Manufacturing.
  11. Provide input to management and coordinate rescheduling in response to design changes, shortages, backlogs, or other disruptions.
  12. Support inventory control, supply chain management, material planning, and scheduling as needed.
Management & Supervisory Responsibilities

Typically reports to management; direct management of other employees is not part of this role.

Job Qualifications
Knowledge Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
  • 5-6 years of materials-related experience.
  • Advanced PC skills, including knowledge of Jabil's software packages.
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present information effectively.
  • Problem-solving skills involving multiple variables.
  • Proficiency in logistics planning aligned with business goals.
  • Basic mathematical skills including algebra and geometry.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.
Physical and Work Environment

Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in a moderate noise environment on the manufacturing floor.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 4-6 years of experience in materials management.
  • APICS certification and inventory control experience preferred.
