POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading high-impact projects from conception to completion, aiming to increase revenue, reduce costs, and improve safety and ergonomics at the site. The role involves collaborating with various functions, applying technical knowledge of processes and equipment, and utilizing strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The engineer will also manage projects related to factory readiness and transformation, employing Lean Principles and Tools. They serve as a change agent within the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Define processes and ensure manufacturing readiness, including layout design, line balancing, cell/line design, material presentation, tooling and fixturing, process documentation, training, and achieving FPY.
  2. Select equipment and technology, and justify capital investments for approval.
  3. Track and analyze KPIs such as scrap, operation supplies, changeover times, and standard hours.
  4. Lead cost reduction projects.
  5. Implement Lean and operational systems within the business unit, including standard work, SMED, and Poka-Yoke.
  6. Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive and corrective actions.
  7. Lead safety and ergonomics initiatives, including job safety analysis to identify and mitigate risks.
  8. Provide operations training on critical processes, routing structures, and process definitions.
  9. Drive continuous improvement by implementing at least one impactful idea per month related to cost, quality, or safety.
  10. Define and control layout and distribution within the business unit.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Automotive Engineering.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in metal mechanic processes such as punching, bending, forming, welding, brazing, painting, fastening, assembly, or electronic/harness processes.
  3. Experience with MRP/ERP systems.
  4. Lean manufacturing certification or practitioner experience.
  5. Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred.
  6. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA, or ProE.
  7. Ability to read blueprints and GD&T is desirable.
  8. Knowledge of core tools.
