A leading company in the manufacturing sector is seeking a Sr Manufacturing Engineer to develop and implement grinding processes and support production activities. The role involves analyzing machine capabilities, training operators, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in engineering and at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing, specifically in grinding.

Eaton’s IS VEH VGNA division is currently seeking a Sr Manufacturing Engineer.

What You’ll Do

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Develop and implement grinding manufacturing processes for new products and continuous improvement. Support production activities. Analyze problems and supervise corrections related to machine capability and production rates (OEE). Maintain and improve current manufacturing processes to produce parts according to specification. Actively participate in the continuous improvement processes of the plant and implement cost-savings in manufacturing to reduce waste, including corrective actions that lead to an immediate impact on business results. Reduce high-risk priority numbers in manufacturing PFMEA's. Train and educate operators to optimize use of new and transferred equipment. Initiate and maintain process sheets for each step of the manufacturing process. Support PROLaunch by participating in aspects related to manufacturing of new released components or assemblies; review and evaluate new products, processes, equipment, and facility proposals; execute installation, runoff, and startup of transferred and new equipment. Complete runoffs and PPAPs on time according to established schedules.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze problems and supervise corrections related to machine capability and production rates (OEE). Maintain and improve current manufacturing processes to produce parts to specification.
  • Participate or champion in the continuous improvement process of the plant and implement cost savings to reduce waste, including corrective actions for immediate business impact. Reduce high-risk priority numbers in PFMEA.
  • Champion key initiatives for the plant and utilize EBS to achieve plant goals. Implement ELS tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Continuous Flow Manufacturing, Setup Reduction, 5S, etc.
  • Train and inform cell technicians on current process techniques and new manufacturing concepts. Train and educate operators to optimize use of new and transferred equipment. Initiate and maintain process sheets for each step of the manufacturing process.
  • Support PROLaunch by participating in manufacturing of new components, reviewing and evaluating new products, processes, and equipment. Lead installation, runoff, and startup of new equipment. Complete runoffs and PPAPs on schedule.
  • Define max/min supply levels for equipment-related items like spare parts and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality System.

Additional Information

  • Incorporate Safety into 5S activities. Update EHS Risk analysis. Upgrade Machine guarding. Include EHS changes in Future state VSM. Identify and lead Lean EHS Projects.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams on manufacturing issues.
  • Coordinate production activities to ensure timely delivery of quality parts.
  • Define SPC control charts, apply corrective actions for nonconformances, monitor SPC data, and maintain process control.
  • Ensure all shop floor positions include CI roles and responsibilities, and communicate these roles effectively to support CI initiatives.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering, specifically in Grinding.
  • Knowledge and training in automation and error proofing techniques.
  • Experience with Cincinnati, Koyo & Nova ID/OD grinders.
  • Programming experience with Fanuc and Siemens controllers.
  • Knowledge of grinding wheels, mechanical drawings, and CAD systems.
  • Understanding of machinery functions (hydraulic, electrical, mechanical).
  • Background in quality basics: SPC, capability studies, Gage R&R, MSA.
  • English proficiency at a conversational level.
  • Green Belt (Six Sigma) certification is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle focusing on Manufacturing Processes.
