Work schedule: Hybrid, going to the office for 3 days

THE ROLE: The Senior Manager, Engineering leads a team, focusing on ensuring on-time and accurate delivery of team goals. This role coordinates with other cross-functional teams to ensure delivery. The Senior Manager collaborates defining priorities and supervising the system development process, tracking the progress of the activities but also participates in the analysis, design, and support of system solutions. Works closely with the Product and Quality Assurance team members to define and communicate status and results of planned work. The Senior Manager will manage large teams that collaborate proactively to provide system solutions and support the enterprise applications and other integrated systems. The Senior Manager is responsible for providing good technical solutions for integrated systems, maintaining direct accountability for quality and uptime of complex applications running on different platforms.

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:

  1. Manages a larger (10+) team or multiple teams in Application Development and ensures delivery for multiple segments of work.
  2. Ensure your team delivers extraordinary output, and continuously seeks ways to make an outsized impact.
  3. Set direction for the team, anticipate strategic and scaling-related challenges via thoughtful long-term planning.
  4. Help craft technical and product strategy, defining the charters and organizational structure as the team grows.
  5. Coach, guide, and provide team mentorship to deliver high quality, accurate, viable, and reliable products.
  6. Work closely with other cross-functional teams to enable team productivity.
  7. Champion engineering excellence, contributing to the architectural decisions and execution of the solution.
  8. Ensure managers and teams follow shared best practices for software development.
  9. Drive consensus on requirements, ensure timely decision-making, provide guidance, prioritize tasks, and optimize scope and time.
  10. Support upper management and other partner teams in decision making, and provide timely and informative status reports.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage up to 10 direct reports.

Job Qualifications

WHAT’S SPECIAL ABOUT THE TEAM: The role is part of the Digital Office Engineering team which is responsible for developing the next generation of applications using MACH, combining state of art latest technologies with compelling experiences. The team is a globally distributed, highly committed and goal-focused group across a diverse set of backgrounds.

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  1. Experience leading, building, and managing teams which deliver reliable products that scale.
  2. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and verbal/written communication (with both technical and non-technical audiences).
  3. Experience in application development and integration and ability to lead technical discussions on a team.
  4. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment, managing different initiatives evaluating priorities and driving team results with limited guidance.
  5. Ability to be creative and think differently, challenging conventional wisdom, and drive new best practices.
  6. Experience in building highly available large-scale enterprise-wide systems collaborating with technology and product teams.
  7. Passion for learning, sharing of innovative ideas and creative thinking to provide innovative solutions to challenges.

Excellent technical skills:

  1. Familiarity with modern full stack application stacks, cloud infrastructure, API/event integration platforms, continuous delivery, and managing operational excellence.
  2. Experience with major cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, and Google GCP (Preferred).
  3. Experience in networking, app gateways, CDNs, internal and 3rd party systems, evaluating data integration design, cleansing, data contracts, etc.
  4. Experience with change management tools and processes, including source code control, versioning, CICD, and release management.

Experience:

Overall 10+ years of software engineering with this experience should demonstrate a deep understanding of software development principles, practices, and methodologies and 4+ years leading software engineering teams.

Education Required:

Bachelors in computer science or equivalent.
