Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

To improve and sustain maintenance reliability and low maintenance costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Root Cause and Reliability Analysis and taking ownership for ongoing corrective action tracking, implementation, and follow up to ensure that all Root Cause analysis projects are documented.
  • Analyzing equipment performance, failure data, and corrective maintenance history to develop and deploy engineering solutions, improved maintenance strategies, preventative maintenance optimization, and other reliability techniques.
  • Key role designing maintenance strategies, procedures and methods.
  • Developing implementation plans and schedules to apply predictive maintenance techniques at our processes.
  • Evaluating effectiveness of predictive maintenance procedures and making adjustments as necessary to increase the value of our offerings.
  • Improving health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring and controlling maintenance costs.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance area:
    • Supervising skills.
  • Experience developing maintenance strategies.
  • Experience handling Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Project management.
  • Understanding and experience of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Management and control of maintenance costs.
  • Spare parts and tooling management.
  • Root cause analysis experience.
  • Understanding of TPM methodology (preferred).

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Green Belt certification.
  • Black belt (6 Sigma or Innovation) training.
  • Project and/or manufacturing financial management knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Innovation Stage-gate processes.
