Your Role

We are looking for a top-tier professional to own the Legal department and team in Latin America North (LAN), formed by Mexico, Caribbean, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela, coordinating resources to fulfill the business strategic priorities. Also advising and building solutions to issues, transactions, and projects that benefit Baxter, employees, the community, customers, providers and patients.

What you'll be doing

Establish the priorities and strategic objectives of the Legal area for LAN, aligned with those of the LATAM/Global Legal areas, businesses, and operations.

Be responsible for the internal and external legal team (Law Firms).

Provide timely, effective, and quality legal advice to the internal client in any matter, project, initiative, or requirement.

Monitor and know the countries' environment and agents in action, and the regulations in force or to be issued, whenever applicable.

Establish and define legal actions to defend Baxter's interests or to acquire benefits.

Participate as an active member of the management and compliance committees, other collegiate bodies of the company, or industry associations to which the company belongs.

Build and lead training programs, promote and implement company policies, and ensure compliance with local regulations.

What you'll bring

Legal certified professional with specialization, a master's degree or doctorate in law, with a minimum of 15 years of experience providing legal advice in similar companies in the same or different sectors, with multi-country experience.

Expertise in regional legal advice on corporate matters, such as: Transactions (M&A); Contracts (supply, distribution, purchase, sale, loan, and installation of technology – medical equipment, licensing of clinical monitoring software, joint venture, partnership, logistics operation, and any other nominated or unnamed contract).

Experience in legal, ethics, and compliance training.

Knowledge of commercial, civil, administrative, labor, and competition law is critical.

Knowledge of exchange, tax, and regulatory rules is desirable.

Proficiency in English.
