Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, is seeking a Senior Design Engineer, Tooling in Mexicali to design manufacturing tooling that enables safe, efficient production of aerospace components.

You will deliver 3D CATIA V5 models and drawings, collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering, and drive RCCA and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and productivity. This is an on-site role requiring a STEM degree and 5+ years of experience.

Formación

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency using CATIA V5 to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings for manufacturing tooling.
  • Experience designing tooling for composite layup, sheet metal fabrication, machining, and mechanical assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawing interpretation, material properties, and standard hardware selection for tooling applications.
  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and support RCCA activities.

Responsabilidades

  • Design and develop manufacturing tooling that supports safe, ergonomic, high-quality, and efficient production in accordance with Tool Design Manuals and aerospace industry best practices.
  • Develop detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CATIA V5 to support composite layup, sheet metal fabrication, machining, and mechanical assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams to deliver tooling solutions that support production requirements and ensure compliance with engineering and quality standards.
  • Investigate tooling and manufacturing issues by participating in RCCA activities and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement by analyzing manufacturing challenges, developing innovative tooling solutions, and optimizing product quality, productivity, and operational performance.

What You Will Do

Qualifications You Must Have

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience supporting aerospace manufacturing or production environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles and manufacturing process optimization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
