Flex is seeking a Sr Buyer Direct in Guadalajara, North Campus to plan, procure, and manage direct materials supporting manufacturing operations. You will optimize inventory, drive supplier performance, and collaborate with Production, Planning, Logistics, and Finance to meet production schedules and cost targets.

You will lead junior buyers and provide mentoring, manage MRP outputs, coordinate inbound shipments, and contribute to continuous improvement across procurement and supply chain.

Formación

  • BA/BS or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in a similar position.
  • Intermediate-advanced English (spoken and written).
  • Experience within Electronics Manufacturing, Enclosures, Automotive, EMS, or related industries.
  • Experience with ocean freight suppliers and global logistics operations.
  • ERP systems experience (SAP, Oracle, BAAN, JDE, Plex, or similar).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis, and reporting.

Responsabilidades

  • Review MRP outputs and place, expedite, reschedule, or cancel purchase orders as required.

  • Coordinate inbound shipments and logistics activities with suppliers, freight forwarders, warehouses, and transportation providers.
  • Lead supplier communications regarding pricing, delivery schedules, forecasts, and capacity constraints.
  • Respond to critical supply chain situations outside normal business hours when required.

If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to‑tend power and thermal management solutions for AI data centres and other mission‑critical applications. To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Sr Buyer Direct located in Guadalajara, North Campus. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager Direct the Sr Buyer Direct is responsible for planning, procuring, and managing direct materials required to support manufacturing operations. Ensures material availability while optimising inventory levels, supplier performance, delivery schedules, and total cost. Serves as the primary point of contact for suppliers, logistics partners, and internal stakeholders while supporting global operations with flexibility to accommodate multiple time zones and urgent material requirements. The role also provides leadership and guidance to junior procurement personnel, including buyers, trainees, or interns, while driving continuous improvement in supply chain performance.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Procure direct materials, components, and assemblies required to support production schedules and customer demand.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure on‑time delivery, quality performance, and cost competitiveness.
  • Review MRP outputs and place, expedite, reschedule, or cancel purchase orders as required.
  • Monitor material availability and mitigate shortages that could impact production.
  • Coordinate inbound shipments and logistics activities with suppliers, freight forwarders, warehouses, and transportation providers.
  • Manage ocean freight suppliers and international shipment activities to ensure uninterrupted material flow.
  • Lead supplier communications regarding pricing, delivery schedules, forecasts, and capacity constraints.
  • Resolve supplier claims, invoice discrepancies, debit/credit issues, and accounts payable related matters.
  • Support inventory control activities, monitor stock levels, and minimise excess and obsolete materials.
  • Track critical materials throughout the production cycle and elevate risks when necessary.
  • Prepare procurement reports, KPIs, and executive presentations utilizing advanced Excel and ERP systems.
  • Participate in regular business reviews, supplier meetings, operational reviews, and cross‑functional planning sessions.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Planning, Warehouse, Logistics, Quality, and Finance teams.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews and drive corrective actions when needed.
  • Ensure procurement records and purchasing data are maintained accurately and confidentially.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across purchasing, logistics, and supply chain operations.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to procurement support staff, including buyers, coordinators, or interns.
  • Support co‑production and global sourcing activities across multiple manufacturing sites.
  • Respond to critical supply chain situations outside normal business hours when required.
