Eaton is seeking a Sr Buyer in Reynosa to drive commodity strategies, select suppliers, and negotiate favorable terms while maintaining supply continuity. The role involves lifecycle cost management, supply chain collaboration, and adherence to Eaton’s SCM processes.

You will work with cross-functional teams, apply MRP/MRPII concepts, and support continuous improvement initiatives in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, purchasing or logistics; MBA preferred.
  • 1–3+ years in supply chain management or purchasing.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsabilidades

  • Participates in development of commodity strategy and five-year road maps.
  • Evaluates global sourcing risks and opportunities (tariffs, exchange rates, etc.).
  • Leads supplier selection and negotiates price, terms, and supply agreements.
  • Coordinates PPAP, supplier approvals, and design parameter discussions for new projects.
  • Develops cost-reduction projects and inventory optimization initiatives.
  • Maintains supplier relationships and ensures material availability to prevent production disruptions.
  • Complies with company SCM processes and drives continuous improvement.

Eaton’s IS VEH EMB division is currently seeking a Sr Buyer.

Eaton announced, on June 11, 20206, the intent to combine its Mobility Group (including both the Vehicle and eMobility segments) with a new company. We expect to complete this process by the end of the first half of 2027. The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton's plans, programs and practices. If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Mobility Group when the transaction closes, the new company will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time.

What You’ll Do
PRIMARY FUNCTION
  • Participates in development of commodity strategy for required commodities. This includes participation in supplier classifications based upon standard rating process, development of five year strategic road maps to successfully execute the strategy (including capital required, cost out, inflation, currency and risk).
  • Evaluates social, economic, and governmental information to determine the risks and opportunities regarding global sourcing (i.e., tariffs, dumping duties, exchange rates, etc.).
  • Decides/participates in supplier selection for material/component requirements. Work with all other Departments to assure Eaton’s customer approval on a timely basis.
  • Completes negotiations with suppliers regarding price, terms, quality, tooling, etc. Develop and negotiate supply agreements when needed. Negotiate consignment and/or Kanban set up with supply base to assist with inventory days on hand.
  • Participates in the activities (i.e., PPAP, supplier approval process, specification/print development when necessary, trials, etc.) during supplier start-up. Coordinate cost estimating and design parameters for new projects and products.
  • Coordinates the exchange of technical information regarding product and product processing with adequate safeguards for confidentiality.
  • Negotiates resolution (as required) of Eaton claims (i.e., cost, time, rework, scrap, and labor, sorting charges) with suppliers regarding non-conforming material.
  • Participates in teams working towards continuous process improvements, elimination of waste, simultaneous engineering, and advanced product quality planning.
  • Supports the corporate sponsored IDEAS program and its associated activities and tools.
  • Develops productive relationships with others in Supply Chain Management, mentoring, teaching and training.
  • Complies with Eaton standardize SCM process and policies both locally and at the corporate level.
  • Locates and develops new suppliers to improve the capability of Eaton’s supply base.
  • Identify and execute cost reduction projects in accordance with the annual individual Apex target.
  • Identify and execute inventory reduction projects to maintain inventory levels at the established targets.
  • Maintain invoices on hold below 10 at any giving time.
  • Maintain system parameters updated at all times.
  • Ensures material availability at all times to prevent production disruptions and achieve absorption hours.
  • Develop, lead, and promote a culture in the organization that supports the expected results in the Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental system (MESH).
  • Maintain waste segregation culture.
  • Separate hazardous waste from the normal trash
  • Place waste according to the assigned containers.
  • Maintain your area clean and free of contaminants.
  • Not waste of water or electricity.
  • Report any activity that can put in risk my safety and environment.
  • Identify and give adequate disposition to all chemical products, which can contaminate the environment.
  • Act/Report immediately any chemical discharge case.

AA. Ensure the rights containers for disposition of hazardous waste (identifying containers and containers to prevent discharge).

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or specialized degree in purchasing/logistics. MBA Preferred.
  • 1-3+ years of experience in supply chain management
  • Strong Communication and Presentation Skills
  • Understanding of key financial metrics
  • Knowledge and skills in MRP, MRPII, JIT, Lean Mfg., Kan Ban, Vendor Managed Inventory
  • Knowledge and experience with SAP and Oracle.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills
  • Contract Negotiating Skills
  • Blueprint reading skills
  • Knowledge of plastics injection molding industry
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
