About the Role
The Software Developer MES, Java, works within the Digital Automotive Manufacturing team, interacting with global IT and Business teams.
The primary scope is to design and implement sustainable, robust, and secure software solutions on an enterprise level within the global MES solution portfolio, considering business and customer requirements, as well as digital strategy. Supporting major incidents and daily operations from a 3rd level perspective.
What You Will Do
- Learn our manufacturing approach and philosophy.
- Create software architecture for specific system components in collaboration with solution architects.
- Develop sustainable, robust, and secure Java applications considering business and customer requirements.
- Interact with IT and manufacturing teams to analyze requirements and create concepts aligned with digital strategy, performance, cost, and usability, especially related to production shopfloor.
- Introduce new ideas, concepts, and technology to optimize software solutions.
- Act as an interface between Business and Digital, communicating with internal and customer (Automotive OEM) stakeholders.
- Review project requests, estimate time and costs required.
- Peer review the work of other developers.
- Conduct internal and business testing, review solutions, ensure quality, and be responsible for deliverables.
- Maintain software and provide internal customer support on the 3rd level.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Java experience (7+ years) in an enterprise environment, designing and implementing software.
- Solid understanding of web technologies (REST, Webservice, SSL).
- Documentation skills (UML, Architecture Diagrams, Technical Specs, API Documentation, C4 or arc42).
- Global approach to development and problem management.
- Ability to oversee complex processes.
- Familiarity with SOLID principles and Design Patterns.
- Excellent command of English.
- Problem-solving mindset.
- Team player.
Bonus Points if You Have
- Knowledge of High Availability concepts in an enterprise environment.
- Experience with SAP NetWeaver, JBOSS, or similar application servers.
- Skills in handling, administrating, and debugging enterprise application landscapes.
- Experience with enterprise databases.
- Understanding cryptography fundamentals.
- Experience with Test Automation, TDD, CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (SAP ME preferred).
- Solid experience with at least one major Unix distribution.
