We work closely with major silicon companies to optimise Ubuntu for their latest hardware.

As a software engineering manager, you will:
  1. Lead an engineering team working across the Linux stack—from kernel to GUI—to optimise Ubuntu for the latest silicon.
  2. Represent the team in partner engagement and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
  3. Support team members' growth, foster a positive work environment, and influence company culture.
  4. Provide technical leadership, challenge, and mentorship to your team.
  5. Collaborate with other teams at Canonical to align on product architecture and roadmaps.
  6. Work remotely with occasional travel up to twice a year for two weeks.
Who you are
  1. Experienced with Linux distributions, Debian packaging, and high-performance server hardware.
  2. Skilled in working directly with customers to resolve technical issues and understand business needs.
  3. Proven experience managing or leading software engineering teams.
  4. Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
  5. Effective at cross-team collaboration, building trust, and delivering results.
  6. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral.
  7. Holding a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technology-related field.
