About the Store Team

The Canonical Store team develops and operates backend services powering the Snap Store and Charmhub.io marketplaces. Our services are primarily built in Python, with some in Golang. We face challenges such as scaling our architecture, expanding software delivery, and enhancing our offerings for IoT and Enterprise solutions. If you value clean APIs, shipping, and automated testing, you'll fit right in.

What you'll do

• Collaborate remotely with a globally distributed team.
• Develop clean web service APIs supporting CLI and web frontend clients, mainly in Python and optionally Golang.
• Design and implement features from specifications to production and ongoing operations at scale.
• Review code and technical designs of colleagues.
• Engage in idea discussions and collaborative problem solving.
• Travel globally 2-4 weeks for internal and external events.

Who you are

• Proficient in developing public APIs and web applications using Python.
• Have a broad tech background with a focus on backend code and infrastructure.
• Experienced with relational and non-relational databases, capable of designing performant data models and tuning queries.
• Comfortable with Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform.
• Strong academic background in Computer Science or similar STEM degree.
• Passionate about technology and working with diverse talented teams.
• Curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable.
• Values soft skills such as passion, enterprising spirit, thoughtfulness, and self-motivation.
