Job summary

Flatiron Software is seeking a seasoned WordPress Developer to join our global engineering team. You will focus on backend development, building and optimizing custom WordPress plugins, APIs, and integrations for high-performance sites.

Ideal candidates have deep WordPress internals knowledge, enterprise experience, and a track record of scalable, maintainable code. Strong English communication is required for international clients.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional WordPress development experience.
• Experience with WordPress hooks (actions & filters), custom queries, and optimization strategies.
• Proficient in ACF, CPT UI, Gutenberg.
• Solid understanding of WordPress REST API, webhooks, and API integrations.
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with performance optimization, caching mechanisms, and scalable WordPress architectures.
• Advanced written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop custom WordPress plugins and themes from scratch using PHP, MySQL, and modern best practices.
• Implement advanced custom fields (ACF), custom post types, and taxonomies for structured data management.
• Optimize database queries and improve performance across complex WordPress sites (meta queries, caching, indexing).
• Integrate WordPress with third-party APIs and automation tools.
• Develop and maintain cron jobs, background tasks, and data synchronization scripts.
• Build and maintain Gutenberg blocks or React-based admin components when required.
• Ensure sites meet performance, accessibility, and SEO standards (Lighthouse, Core Web Vitals).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (frontend, DevOps, QA, design) following Agile practices.
• Write clean, well-documented, and unit-tested code following OOP principles and WordPress coding standards.
