Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a hands-on Senior Site Reliability Engineer to maintain and improve a Java services ecosystem. You will collaborate with a backend team and an SRE peer to strengthen reliability, observability, and on-call readiness.

Requirements include 3+ years in SRE/DevOps, AWS expertise, DynamoDB/ElastiCache experience, and strong debugging and communication skills in English (B2). Nice-to-have Kubernetes, Terraform, Grafana, New Relic, and Kafka.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps experience in distributed systems.
• Hands-on on-call support for production services during business hours.
• Proven experience with AWS in production environments and cloud-based services.
• Experience with DynamoDB and ElastiCache in operational contexts.
• Strong Git skills and Gradle knowledge for Java-based services.
• Excellent troubleshooting using logs/telemetry and clear incident reporting.
• Proactive learner with solid English communication (B2).

Responsibilities

• Provide on-call support for Java backend services and identity infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root-cause analysis.
• Deploy patches and improve cloud infrastructure reliability.
• Enhance observability with metrics, dashboards, and SLO tracking.
• Create or update runbooks to speed recovery and document incidents.
• Collaborate with engineers to align operations with service ownership.
