About the Opportunity

As a Test Engineer, your core responsibility is to ensure the quality and reliability of our custom software solutions through comprehensive manual and automated testing. You will play a vital role in supporting our higher education customers by delivering consistent, high-quality outcomes that align with their needs. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams including developers, consultants, and business analysts to verify that every feature functions as intended.
You will also be instrumental in identifying and analyzing defects, contributing to continuous improvement in our QA processes, and leveraging modern tools and frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, JMeter, and Postman. Your work will help maintain high standards of software performance, security, and usability across projects. As part of the Quality Assurance team, your efforts will directly influence customer satisfaction and the success of every deployment.

Where you will make an impact

• Lead workstreams within an overall project transparently and productively, applying standard practices.
• Quality Assurance of service delivery and deployment of our Custom Software Solution Development services through planned engagements with our higher education customers.
• Collaborate with consulting teams and peers to ensure customer and Ellucian project expectations are exceeded.
• Work with a dynamic team of developers and other peers to build and test the application according to the prepared specifications
• Ability to deconstruct complex issues to identify root cause issues
• Stay current with Ellucian applications. Have an aptitude to learn new technologies quickly

What will you bring

• 5 to 7 years of experience in Quality Assurance of software applications, consisting of manual and automation testing.
• Knowledge of QA processes & methodologies, and the experience in designing test strategies, test plans, test cases, test data and execution of tests scripts.
• Conduct business process review and analysis of client business requirements. Gather and document business requirements, engage with clients and brief the implementation team on requirements.
• Ability to analyze specifications and design documentation, test strategies, test plans, and user acceptance criteria.
• Configuring Ellucian systems in alignment with client needs and provide training in the use and upkeep of applications and technologies.
• Write and execute effective functional test plans and test cases, following established QA procedures in SQL, UI and API testing.
• Experience using Playwright/Typescript/Javascript, Selenium, JMeter and Postman to create automated tests.
• Able to create, update, and maintain system integration testing, user acceptance testing, regression testing, API testing, and data-driven automated testing scenarios.
• Able to create and organize, test plans, test sets, and test executions in Jenkins or Gitlab pipelines.
• Execute test scripts and fully document all defects during the test execution.
• Actively participate in developing and improving existing testing scenarios and test cases.
• Work with Development teams to better understand requirements, improve test effectiveness, and resolve defects.
• Able to adapt to Agile Scrum Software Development methodologies with a cross-functional team approach.
• Able to create and run automated smoke testing, positive and negative tests, functional tests, front-end and back-end test scenarios.
• Knowledge and experience in Continuous Development / Continuous Integration using Jenkins and Gitlab jobs.
• Bachelor’s Degree; Computer Science desirable.
• Experience in Consulting experience
• Exhibits a strong sense of ownership for individual work assignments.
• Enabling delivery readiness, problem-solving and root cause analysis.
• Strong communication and analytical skills with demonstrable presentation and professional communication skills (written and verbal).
• Experience working independently with little direction to achieve goals. Ability to work with a remote team leveraging available tools.
• Brings an established, effective method for tracking and completing tasks on time.
• Prefers a collaborative work environment over working solo, with a bias towards sharing credit for achievement over individual recognition.
