Job summary

Elsevier Health is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to design, build, and maintain scalable cloud-native applications powering healthcare products globally. You will work across microservices, modern frameworks, and distributed systems, while mentoring junior engineers and promoting engineering excellence in a collaborative, global environment.

This hybrid role requires 7+ years of experience, a CS/engineering degree, deep AWS and containerization knowledge, plus strong skills in

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Interface with technical personnel to refine requirements for complex software solutions.
• Write and review specifications for development of complex system components.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable applications and services using modern software engineering practices.
• Troubleshoot complex bug fixes ensuring reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Promote development processes, coding standards, code reviews, and best practices.
• Operate in Agile and Waterfall environments.
• Design data models ensuring scalability and performance.
• Resolve complex issues across distributed systems and cloud environments.
• Mentor and train junior engineers.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across architecture and processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
