Job summary

Flextronics - The Flex Company in Guadalajara, Mexico is seeking an SMT Process Engineer to develop, optimize and sustain SMT manufacturing processes in a high-volume electronics environment. You will supervise the SMT team and coordinate cross-functional activities with Production, Quality, Test, and Engineering to drive process improvements and support new product introductions.

The role requires hands-on SMT expertise (Screen Printing, SPI, Pick & Place, Reflow, AOI, PTH) and strong knowledge

Qualifications

• BA/BS in mechatronics or industrial engineering or related field.
• Extensive experience in SMT processes in electronics manufacturing.
• Hands-on with Screen Printing, SPI, Pick & Place, Reflow, AOI and PTH.
• Knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards and process capability studies (CPK).
• Experience with NPI, DOE methodologies, and RCA.
• Intermediate English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise technical activities in SMT processes and coordinate the team.
• Develop, optimize, and sustain SMT manufacturing processes.
• Create and maintain equipment programs for DEK, SPI, AOI, Pick & Place, and related SMT equipment.
• Develop and validate reflow profiles and solder paste processes.
• Analyze process capability (CPK) and implement corrective actions to improve process stability.
• Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of PCB assembly issues.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, cycle time, and scrap reductions.
• Coordinate process validations, tooling development, and fixture implementation.
• Support engineering changes, process transfers, and NPIs.
• Conduct capacity analysis, line balancing, and bottleneck identification.
