Overview
The Sales Application Engineer drives sales support for technical tendencies, products, demand creation, innovations and applications for Data Center solutions, Industrial Control and Protection Relays. They assess local market technical competitive situations and make recommendations on how to best meet product-application local needs. They keep track of competitors’ applications, provide internal and customer training, and facilitate the creation and maintenance of technical web pages, proper product documentation and other sales enablement tools. The Sales Application Engineer provides technical support in the data center segment in the Electrical Sector Business unit.
Responsibilities
- Support best solution - product application portfolio and pricing management for Data Centers Applications.
- Product introduction of DC market solutions, development solutions in DC market segments, speaker specialist in DC market segment presentations and specification.
- Sales and partner enablement.
- Work with sales & marketing leaders to create solutions sales strategy.
- Product portfolio and product specification management.
- Market intelligence - competitors’ movements.
- Specification and demand generation.
- Support the marketing team as a technical representative when customers visit the facility.
- Participating and leading customer training on Data Centers portfolio products.
- Technical sales professional responsible for supporting electrical consultants, designers, end users and specifiers that serve the local commercial, institutional, and data centers markets.
- Keeps track of the competitors’ applications, provide internal and customer training, facilitate the creation and maintenance of technical web pages, of proper product documentation and of other sales enablement tools.
- Achieve acceptability of Eaton’s Electrical products in the marketplace, while providing technical leadership and mentoring for sales engineers, outside rep agencies- Channels, and to both internal and external customers.
- Collaborating with electrical consultants and specifying engineers to assist in the application, layout and specification of medium voltage, low voltage, power distribution systems, Critical Power solutions, Software and monitoring systems, able to assess local market technical competitive situations, as well as make recommendations on how to best product-application local needs.
- Meet any other activity assigned by your supervisor or special requirements of the company.
- Active participation in continuous improvement programs and committees.
- Know and comply with the Policies: Global Ethics, Values and Philosophy, Management Environmental Safety and Security and Health (MESH).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution required.
- Minimum 3 years in Technical support, Technical Sales, Product development, Application Engineering, Product Engineering or related field experience in a medium/large company required, preferably with a manufacturer in electrical industry; or related product and manufacturing.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Knowledge of Electrical / Industrial market & products.
- Superior knowledge of Data Center products.
- The Application Engineer must possess both strong technical and commercial skills and be experienced in electrical power distribution, IT applications and control systems typically applied in these markets.
- Exposure to high complexity businesses management.
- Experience in an area of relevance to the position as well as project management skills.
- Experience as Technical Instructor / Trainer.
- Interest in technology and willingness to develop understanding of complex Eaton products and segments to market.
- Must have advance level verbal and written English skills required.
- Proficiency in computer skills Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, 365).
