Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional Python development experience.
• Proficiency with FastAPI, Django, Flask and API design.
• Experience in designing microservices and inter-service communication.

• Mentor less senior engineers.
• Shell scripting for automation (Bash).
• Linux/Unix administration basics.
• Familiarity with AWS, GitHub Actions, REST API development.
• Strong unit testing and test automation.
• Experience working in agile teams on complex applications.
• Collaborative, global-team mindset.
• Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
• English proficiency at Upper-Intermediate (B2) or higher.

In this role, you will drive backend engineering efforts, design scalable microservices architectures, and integrate diverse data sources into unified data models. You will collaborate with global teams, mentor less senior engineers, and contribute to high-stakes financial applications.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement microservices architectures, API gateways, and inter-service communication
• Develop and optimize backend services using Python and modern frameworks
• Integrate data from multiple sources (xlsx, pdf, csv, json) into a common data model
• Build and maintain REST APIs with a focus on performance and scalability
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to less senior team members
• Automate tasks and manage operating system-level operations through shell scripting
• Troubleshoot complex system and application issuesEnsure strong test coverage through robust unit testing and test automation
• Collaborate with globally distributed teams in an agile environment
• Participate actively in code reviews and peer learning initiatives

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in Python development
• Proficiency in backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, and Flask, including API design and optimization
• Expertise in system design and software architecture, including microservices, API gateways, and inter-service communication
• Skills in integrating data from multiple formats (xlsx, pdf, csv, json) into a common data model
• Background in managing and mentoring less senior team members from a technical perspective
• Advanced knowledge of shell scripting (e.g., Bash) for task automation and OS-level management
• Understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems, including process management, basic networking, and application layer integration
• Familiarity with AWS, GitHub Actions, and REST API development
• Competency in test automation and robust unit testing practices
• Experience working in agile teams on complex, high-stakes applications
• Collaborative mindset with comfort working across global teams
• Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence
• English proficiency at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher

Nice to have

• Frontend development experience with React and TypeScript
• Finance domain expertise, ideally in Payments or Treasury
• Familiarity with Dagster, Kubernetes, and Pandas
• Knowledge of dbt
