Position Overview

In Fortune Brands Innovations, Inc., we are seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer for our New Innovation Center in Nuevo Leon. You will work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and validate product changes from concept to launch. Mentoring new talent, especially entry-level engineers and interns, will be part of your role. Your design work will support our continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives to enhance our business health.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Lead design and development engineering on assigned projects from concept to production, providing support to internal and external engineering customers.
  2. Lead problem-solving and failure analysis using engineering analysis tools.
  3. Drive the development of capable, cost-effective manufacturing and assembly processes alongside product design activities to ensure robust designs.
  4. Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Designers, Purchasing, and suppliers to meet customer specifications and needs for new, reliable products.
  5. Develop, lead, and participate in Design Reviews, DFM, and DFA for new products.
  6. Guide team members in resolving complex engineering problems and mentor/coach in problem-solving and engineering skills.
  7. Continuously improve processes, skills, team environment, and tools to support product leadership strategy.
  8. Identify and develop intellectual property claims in collaboration with project teams.
  9. Communicate technical information effectively to non-technical audiences.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
  • Fully bilingual (English and Spanish).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, including manufacturing exposure and product development.
  • Experience working with international suppliers preferred.
  • Proficiency in 3-D CAD (Creo) and PC use.
  • Knowledge in failure analysis, scientific problem solving, FEA, FMEA, DOE, QFD, DFMA, and engineering principles related to fluids, mechanics, and thermal systems.
  • Ability to interpret statistics related to manufacturing processes and part design.
  • Strong collaborative problem-solving skills and knowledge of geometric tolerancing and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 15%, domestically and internationally.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with staff, customers, and suppliers across cultures.
