Purpose of the Job:

This role brings knowledge and operational expertise in the field of Direct Material Commodities and will bring a modern approach to the Sonova team. It will be integral in driving the category forward while supporting the procurement function to create value and enhance the organization’s competitive advantage. The role will own all direct material suppliers located in the Americas across all Categories.

Reporting to the Director Procurement Americas (Direct Material), this position will play a lead role in deploying strategy through the sourcing, supplier onboarding, and contract management phases.

In addition, this role will also be responsible for executing global Indirect Procurement Strategies in the areas of CAPEX, MRO, Consumables, and Service for the locations in America by identifying potential suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings across these categories while ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

The role presents an excellent opportunity within a fast-paced growth company to deliver significant value across the global category structure. The person appointed will be required to evidence previous, value-add ownership of Direct Material in a global environment, with the ability to interact cross-functionally and externally in such a way that achieves real progress for the category in line with the Sonova values and business plans.

Minimum Requirements:
  1. BS in Engineering.
  2. 8+ years of procurement experience in the Direct and Indirect area.
  3. Implementation of strategic category strategies for Direct and Indirect Material.
  4. Work experience of owning procurement activities in a global organization; NA & MX experience is a must.
  5. Ownership of the sourcing process in line with policy, procedures, and sourcing targets.
  6. Fit for purpose contract development.
  7. Adept at supporting the business to resolve supply chain disturbances and supplier performance issues.
  8. Successful commercial experience (pre and post sourcing).
  9. Able to collaborate with and influence external vendors and internal stakeholder groups linked to the relevant sub-category.
  10. Self-starter, self-motivated, and ready to play a visible role in procurement.
  11. A value creator, adept at impacting the bottom line through tangible commercial results.
  12. English proficiency (80%).
  13. Intermediate computer skills including Excel and SAP experience.
  14. Solutions-focused, able to work with leadership and teammates to deliver required outcomes.
  15. Strong organizational skills, deadline sensitivity, and ability to lead and work effectively with all internal team members.
  16. Strong project management experience and skills.
  17. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and methodology.
  18. Ability to work with little day-to-day direction; must be self-directed and willing to take initiative.
  19. Must be able to work and communicate effectively across all levels and functions of the organization.
  20. High level of attention to detail.
  21. Proven ability to lead and motivate a team and influence cross-functionally.
  22. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
