Publicis Sapient is seeking a Senior or Senior Lead SQL Application Support Engineer to support production databases for a US client in investment management. You will investigate data discrepancies, troubleshoot incidents at the database level, and ensure overnight batch jobs and ETL processes run smoothly.

The role covers MS SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL and Sybase, with emphasis on advanced SQL, performance tuning, and database programming.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL development skills with complex queries across large datasets.
• Experience root-cause analysis of data discrepancies and reconciliation issues.
• Ability to validate reports and build ad hoc SQL queries for business users.
• Familiarity with database tuning, indexing strategies, and execution plans.

Job Description

We’re seeking a Senior or Senior Lead SQL Application Support Engineer for a client specialized in investment management in the United States, to keep its business-critical applications and databases stable in production. You will investigate data discrepancies, reconciliation breaks and missing transactions, troubleshoot incidents at the database level, and keep batch jobs, ETL processes and overnight processing running for critical business and reporting cycles.

The work centers on advanced SQL and production database objects such as stored procedures, functions, triggers and views, on platforms such as MS SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL and Sybase. The role is open at Senior or Senior Lead level.

Qualifications

Skills & Experience

• Advanced SQL development: complex queries with multi-table joins, nested subqueries, CTEs, window functions (ROW_NUMBER, RANK, DENSE_RANK, LEAD, LAG), temporary tables and set operators (UNION, INTERSECT, EXCEPT), applied to large datasets.
• Data investigation: root cause analysis in SQL of data discrepancies, missing transactions, reconciliation breaks and data quality issues.
• Reporting and data validation: validating business reports and dashboards against source data, building ad hoc SQL reports for business users, and applying data reconciliation techniques.
• Database performance tuning: query optimization, execution plan analysis, clustered and non-clustered indexing strategies, database statistics, and troubleshooting slow-running queries.
• Database programming: developing and maintaining stored procedures, functions, triggers and views, and modifying existing database objects to support production enhancements.
• Production support: handling application and database incidents, impact analysis and defect resolution for critical business processes and reporting cycles, with availability for odd hours and weekends as the project requires.
• Hands-on experience with one or more of MS SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL or Sybase.

This is a long-term, full-time (Indefinite) contract with a flexible work model. The team is open to considering each candidate’s preferences and circumstances.
