Summary

This role involves designing and implementing automated assembly processes, creating user requirement specifications, and collaborating with internal teams and suppliers.

Detailed Description

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conceptualizing automated/semi-automated assembly processes for different types of products.
  • Estimating investment costs and creating user requirement specifications for automated assembly processes.
  • Creating automation solutions that meet Celestica's universal and site-specific automation goals.
  • Applying lean concepts to automation design solutions.
  • Analyzing designs and systems for compliance with applicable standards.
  • Interfacing with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to provide site-specific automation needs.
  • Evaluating suppliers and managing their deliverables through the design, development, and deployment of automated solutions.
  • Communicating progress on project tasks and formalizing drawing documentation.
  • Supporting automation projects in all phases of the project life cycle.

Required skills and experience include:

  • Experience programming and troubleshooting industrial robots, PLCs, and vision systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of automation systems and tools, such as robotic, vision inspection, material handling, and HMI.
Physical Demands
  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor may be required.
  • Repetitive manual movements, such as data entry, may be frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required, up to 10% of the time.
Typical Experience

Minimum 7 years of experience in automation design, preferably with a machine integrator or equivalent.

Typical Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a similar field.
