Job Description

Job Overview:

The Senior HSES Specialist applies best practices to resolve complex HSES-related issues and utilizes discipline-specific knowledge to enhance HSES performance. They operate with a significant degree of autonomy, balancing field-based responsibilities with administrative duties. Comfortable in a dynamic environment, they serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues, sharing their expertise in HSES disciplines.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Implement the McDermott HSES Management System, considering the company's, client's, and regulatory requirements.
  2. Promote a consistent, risk-based HSES culture.
  3. Develop and implement HSES plans, procedures, and instructions aligned with contractual, corporate, and legislative standards.
  4. Facilitate risk assessments and maintain up-to-date risk registries.
  5. Create HSES activity plans, scheduling inspections, audits, and emergency responses.
  6. Monitor effectiveness and support the implementation of the Project HSES Management Plan.
  7. Conduct internal and external HSES audits.
  8. Manage subcontractor/vendor HSES pre-qualification and bid evaluations.
  9. Oversee subcontractor/vendor HSES performance.
  10. Collaborate with the PMT and subcontractors on hazard control interventions.
  11. Review client HSES documentation and perform gap analyses against project procedures.
  12. Establish and manage relevant KPIs.
  13. Monitor HSES statistics, identify trends, and report promptly with action plans for improvement.
  14. Participate actively in safety programs and initiatives.
  15. Lead and participate in HSES meetings, ensuring follow-up on actions.
  16. Ensure adequate HSES resource allocation.
  17. Complete personal development and mentor others.
  18. Lead incident investigations and prepare reports.
  19. Facilitate client interface on HSES matters.
  20. Report injuries, near misses, and incidents promptly.
  21. Contribute to HSES training, education, and awareness materials.
  22. Assist in developing and maintaining emergency procedures.
  23. Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and productivity, ensuring compliance with the business conduct code.
  24. Coordinate project HSES activities.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  1. Degree/Diploma in a relevant HSES field or equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum of 6 years experience in the energy industry.
  3. In-depth knowledge of local and international HSES laws, codes, and regulations.
  4. Certified ISO standards lead auditor (9001, 14001, or 45001).
  5. Strong team player with leadership capabilities.
  6. Proficiency in statistical and data analysis.
  7. Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, Project.
