Job Overview:

The Senior Fabrication Operations Specialist utilizes best practices and industry knowledge to enhance the Operations (Fab) discipline within McDermott. They serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues, sharing their expertise related to fabrication operations. The specialist addresses complex problems and applies discipline-specific knowledge to improve products or services. Their work impacts customer, operational, project, or service activities within the Operations (Fab) team and related teams, ensuring compliance with guidelines and policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field
  • At least 9 years of experience in fabrication operations within the EPCI industry, focusing on fabrication processes
  • Proven success in managing and delivering fabrication projects, including yards, offshore platforms, or onshore facilities
  • Deep knowledge of fabrication methodologies, processes, welding, coating, NDT, and lifting operations
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software for planning and monitoring
  • Strong leadership and communication skills for team management and stakeholder collaboration
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced environments
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations
  • Experience with industry software such as 3D modeling, ERP systems, and digital twin platforms

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and review activities of the fabrication team and related departments
  • Review project plans with planning, engineering, and fabrication teams
  • Contribute to developing Level 5 schedules for pre-fabrication work
  • Assess shop capacity to meet pre-fabrication schedules
  • Ensure availability of work packs and procedures for pre-fabrication
  • Coordinate material availability with the material management team
  • Participate in weekly pre-fabrication and project site meetings
  • Identify manpower and tooling requirements in collaboration with project supervisors
  • Address quality and safety issues promptly
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality, productivity, and compliance
