Schneider Electric is seeking a Power Products NAM Industrialization Senior Engineer II to lead the part development process from concept through tool transfer in all phases of the new product development cycle, adhering to OLM and Agile methodologies.

The role requires a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or equivalent and 5+ years in manufacturing engineering with metal fabrication experience, including stamping, forming, and die design.

  • Coordinate with procurement and suppliers for tooling and qualification.
  • Maintain technical records and drive continuous improvement.
  • Travel up to 30% as required.

Schneider Electric is seeking a motivated individual to serve as Power Products NAM Industrialization Metallic Component and Tooling Senior Engineer II. The individual is responsible for leading part development process from concept through tool transfer in all phases of the new product development cycle with adherence to Offer Lifecycle Management (OLM) and Agile Methodologies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams early in design process on metal component manufacturability
  • Conduct manufacturability studies to assess critical characteristics, risks and mitigation plans with Design and Quality
  • Define tooling strategy for prototype and production tooling by evaluating financial assessment for cost and capacity output
  • Develop target cost estimates and work with Procurement to evaluate suppliers and leverage knowledge in technical negotiations
  • Define stamping and tooling technical requirements utilizing corporate standards
  • Prepare technical specifications for supply base
  • Issue Purchase Orders, prepare schedules and follow tool progress at tool supplier through qualification at production supplier
  • Develop qualification plans and lead tool and part qualification activities at supplier
  • Responsible for obtaining plant acceptance and provide final tool transfer agreement
  • Maintain and publish technical records in compliance with global standards
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and operational performance
  • Proactively explore next generation tooling and process improvements where new technologies and data driven studies drive process efficiency and business impact
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • Required - Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with significant experience in a metal fabrication environment
  • Experience in component and subassembly design is preferred
  • Advanced experience in metal stamping, forming processes and die design
  • Advanced experience in metal fabrication, punching, cutting, bending, welding of copper/aluminum and various sheet metals
  • Advanced experience with ProE or similar 3D CAD software
  • Advanced experience in General Dimension and Tolerances
  • Desirable to have Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience or certification
TRAVEL
  • Travel required up to 30% (domestic and international based on project assignment)
CRITICAL BEHAVIORS
  • Able to work within a multidisciplinary and multicultural project team: Engineering, Procurement, Industrialization, Project Management, Quality on projects to ensure the link with the operations facility (participation in design and peer reviews for concept selection)
  • Leadership principles to operate independently and elevate when necessary
  • Ability to challenge cross-functions to achieve optimized tooling and part costs
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal)
  • Proven ability to influence and convince through negotiation.
  • Experience in summarizing technical information for upper management review and quick decision making
