Job summary

LexisNexis Legal & Professional, part of RELX, seeks a Senior II Data Scientist to lead development of AI solutions using LLMs, RAG, and agentic AI systems. You will translate business needs into scalable, production-ready software with cross-functional collaboration and direct contribution to core development.

Responsibilities include end-to-end project lifecycle, performance optimization, and effective communication with product teams. Flexible hours and country-specific benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of experience in Data Scientist or similar roles.
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience building RAG-based applications and agentic AI systems.
• Ability to design and explain end-to-end AI solution architectures, including data ingestion, retrieval, generation, and evaluation components.
• Strong proficiency in Python, modern AI frameworks, cloud-based development, and software engineering best practices for production of AI systems.
• Experience working with NLP, document processing, search, recommendation systems, or related information retrieval problems.
• Familiarity with embeddings, vector search, and retrieval mechanisms.
• Ability to evaluate AI system performance and diagnose issues related to answer quality, retrieval, hallucinations, or model behavior.
• Experience implementing agentic workflows and multi-agent architectures.
• Proven ability to work with Product and stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable AI solutions.
• Strong communication skills in English, including ability to explain technical concepts to different audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of AI projects (LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows) from problem definition to deployment and continuous improvement.
• Monitor, evaluate and optimize AI system performance using metrics and user feedback.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to prioritize opportunities and communicate results.
• Contribute to software development as an individual contributor.
• Design and implement scalable AI solution architectures (data ingestion, retrieval, generation, evaluation).
• Build and enhance RAG-based applications and AI-powered products.
• Collaborate across teams to solve information retrieval and NLP challenges.
• Support continuous improvement of AI systems through experimentation and testing.
