Responsibilities:

The position requires continuous interaction with the Finance Business Partner (Costing) in the US to ensure regional cohesion, as well as with the Accounting Shared Services Center in Portugal (SSC) to ensure a timely monthly accounting close.

3.1. Cost Control and Finances
  • Perform monthly cost variance analysis in product lines and business segments, identifying key factors and proposing corrective actions.
  • Ensure accurate determination of standard costs for all product groups (locally manufactured and purchased for resale), aligning with global procedures and recipes.
  • Develop and maintain machine rates, direct labor costs, indirect production costs, and manufacturing overhead allocations.
  • Monitor and analyze manufacturing cost trends, identifying inefficiencies and providing recommendations.
  • Lead and support quarterly cost runs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial projections.
  • Manage the IT.MDS process and process order settlement, ensuring accurate and timely execution.
  • Perform product costing for new product development and production decisions.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory costing issues in collaboration with Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Production.
  • Ensure accurate COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) reporting, including purchase price variances, standard cost variances, inventory reserves, and reconciliations.
  • Review and analyze import freight and duty costs, managing relevant tables in SAP.
  • Set up and manage all import freight allocations.
3.2 Budgeting and Reporting
  • Develop and oversee gross profitability analysis by customer, product, and market segment, ensuring pricing strategies align with cost structures.
  • Perform periodic valuation of inventory, including allowances for slow-moving and obsolete products.
  • Provide cost-based support for strategic pricing and product portfolio management decisions.
  • Generate financial performance indicators to support executive-level decision making.
3.3. Process Improvement and Automation
  • Identify and implement costing automation tools and process improvements in collaboration with IT and Finance.
  • Develop analytical checks to ensure data integrity before and after system changes.
  • Lead costing-related master data governance improvement projects in SAP (CO module, it.MDS compliance, and process order settlements).
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to ensure cost structures are optimized and aligned with production efficiency targets.
3.4. Compliance and Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Ensure compliance with KLM Costing Guidelines and global financial policies, acting as a key point of contact for stakeholders.
Qualifications:
4.1. Education and Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
  • CPC or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Master's Degree in Finance or Costing, or Diploma in Managerial Accounting preferred.
4.2. Experience:
  • 5-7 years of experience in cost accounting, financial control, or manufacturing finance.
  • Previous experience in industrial, chemical, or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Experience in SAP and financial compliance standards.
