Job description

Shortcut is a digital product design and engineering studio based in Latin America. For over a decade, our team has created brand identities, flagship websites, and digital products for founders and technology companies across fintech, mobility, consumer, and AI.

At Shortcut, brand design never stops at a static PDF guidelines deck. We build visual identities conceived from day one to live on screens, move with purpose, and hold up across physical touchpoints, marketing sites, and product interfaces alike. In this role, you will lead the visual identity of a project end-to-end: from visual research, creative territories, and art direction to logos, typography, graphic systems, and brand guidelines. You will present your work directly to client founders and partner closely with our product designers and frontend engineers so the brand ships on the web and in software with the exact craft you envisioned.

What You Will Do
  • Conceive and design comprehensive visual identity systems for technology startups, new ventures, and established companies.
  • Define every layer of a brand's visual world: wordmarks and symbols, typographic hierarchies, color systems, layout grids, iconography, imagery direction, and custom graphic devices.
  • Turn company strategy and positioning into clear visual narratives that resonate with founders and customers.
  • Design brand systems that feel cohesive across digital surfaces (flagship websites, product UI, social) as well as physical or print applications when needed.
  • Produce custom visual assets, textures, 3D compositions, and art-directed imagery combining traditional tools with modern AI workflows.
  • Build clear, practical brand guidelines and Figma libraries that internal product and engineering teams can actually use.
  • Present creative directions to client stakeholders and collaborate with Shortcut's web and product teams through launch.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience designing brand identities and leading art direction at a design studio or high-bar creative team, backed by a portfolio of shipped brands.
  • Mastery of core graphic design fundamentals: typography, grid systems, proportion, color theory, composition, and mark construction.
  • A digital-first mindset: you understand how a brand system translates into responsive websites, interactive components, and digital products.
  • Fluency in Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), paired with practical experience using AI tools (Midjourney, Krea, Runway, or similar) to accelerate visual exploration and asset creation.
  • Strong storytelling and presentation skills; you can articulate the rationale behind a visual direction and guide clients through feedback with confidence.
  • Native Spanish and professional working proficiency in English, with working hours that overlap with Mexico City (GMT-6).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with motion design tools (After Effects, Cavalry, or Rive) to define how a brand's graphic system moves and behaves.
  • Working knowledge of 3D tools (Blender, Spline, Cinema 4D) or custom type/lettering to create signature brand assets.
  • Ability to translate a brand identity directly into a live web experience in Framer or Webflow.
  • Deep curiosity for contemporary visual culture, editorial design, technology, and brands that challenge category conventions.

Your portfolio is the most important part of your application. We want to see complete, real-world brand systems where your craft in art direction, typography, and system application across digital and physical touchpoints is unmistakable. A curated selection of three or four standout brand projects is much stronger than a large archive. Be ready to walk us through what you owned and how the identity came together.
