Job summary

Zillow Group is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to architect, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that power Zillow applications. You will work on large-scale distributed systems in cloud environments, with Kubernetes-based platforms.

You will mentor peers, uphold CI/CD, testing, and operational runbooks, and collaborate with product, data, and ML teams to deliver robust, observable systems.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering skills with production-quality code.
• Proficiency in Go and/or Python for building infrastructure tools and automation.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure in production environments.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized platforms.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available backend services and APIs powering Zillow applications.
• Lead design and implementation of backend solutions that optimize performance, reliability, and observability for large-scale distributed systems in cloud environments (Kubernetes-based).
• Collaborate with product, front-end, data, and ML teams to translate requirements into robust designs and end-to-end solutions.
• Implement and uphold engineering best practices, including automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, instrumentation, and runbooks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and drive systemic improvements to reduce incidents.
• Mentor engineers through code/design reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
