Job summary

Instrumentl is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own AI features end to end, shipping tool-using LLM agents, RAG pipelines, and production-grade backends. You will work on APIs, data pipelines, and evaluation to keep AI honest and cost-effective.

You will collaborate with Product, Design, and GTM, running experiments and raising engineering standards through clear, maintainable code and tests.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building production backend systems in Python.
• Hands-on experience building LLM features in production.
• Strong data fundamentals: SQL and building pipelines for retrieval/evaluation.
• Thrives in a fast, scrappy startup with high ownership and bias for action.

Responsibilities

• Ship AI to production with tool-using LLM agents and RAG pipelines.
• Build resilient backends with observability and SLAs.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and GTM on scoping and measurement.
• Run experiments and iterate based on results.
