Job summary

FORVIA HELLA is a leading automotive supplier with a global footprint. The Safety Specialist will support the chief safety engineer, ensuring compliance with health & safety laws, and provide legally compliant guidance to HELLA entities.

Responsibilities include risk assessment, PPE oversight, and safety training. The role focuses on accident prevention, ergonomics, and continuous improvement of safety processes.

Qualifications

• English advanced.
• Industrial protection and health protection, Fire protection and Environmental protection knowledge and experience.
• ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.

Responsibilities

• Advising with planning, execution, maintenance and modification of company property and facilities, as well as new working methods and materials.
• Providing advice on procurement of technical equipment, workstation design, workflows and ergonomics, and evaluating working conditions.
• Instructing employees about hazard prevention and safety measures; promoting health and accident prevention.
• Involvement in selecting, testing and specifying personal protective equipment.
• Monitoring and approving operations, processes, equipment and workstations before and after changes.
• Checking fire and explosion protection measures and emergency equipment.
• Organizing plant tours to observe health and safety.
• Suggesting and implementing improvements to resolve safety issues.
• Investigating causes of workplace accidents and participating in case processing.
• Drafting company safety instructions and guidelines.
• Supporting injured employees and those with occupational illnesses.
• Involvement in training safety officers.
• Organizing and participating in internal and external safety training.
• Developing targets and implementing new health and safety processes and tools.
• Cooperating with safety leadership, doctor, works council and external bodies.
• Informing employees about health, safety and environmental news.

YOUR TASKS

Job Objective

Supporting the chief safety engineer in carrying out tasks in line with the health & safety laws, as well as providing legally compliant support and advice to Hella KGaA and the Hella companies within his responsibility, taking state and liability insurance requirements into account, as well as the defined deployment times and tasks in all matters of health & safety, accident prevention and humane working conditions.

Tasks / Area of Responsibility

1. Advising with the planning, execution, maintenance and modification of company property, social and sanitary facilities as well as with the introduction of working methods and materials.
2. Providing advice and support with the procurement of technical equipment, the design of workstations, workflows and working environments, as well as in questions of ergonomics and in the evaluation of working conditions.
3. Supporting superiors in instructing employees about accident and health hazards, as well as about equipment and measures for averting such hazards.
4. Involvement in the selection, testing and specification of personal protective equipment.
5. Safety-related monitoring and acceptance of operational processes, lines, equipment, technical equipment, working methods, materials and workstations, particularly before they are introduced and/or put into operation and after major changes.
6. Checking fire protection and explosion protection measures as well as escape, rescue, emergency and first aid equipment.
7. Organizing, carrying out and documenting tours of the plant to observe health & safety issues and workingsafety.
8. Making suggestions about and working towards eliminating problems.
9. Investigating the causes of accidents at work and involvement in processing accident cases.
10. Drawing up company instructions and company guidelines/information about safety at the workplace.
11. Involvement in supporting and advising those injured in accidents and those with occupational illnesses.
12. Involvement in training safety officers.
13. Organizing and involvement in internal and external further qualification and training measures for employees in health & safety matters.
14. Involvement in the development of setting targets, as well as implementing and testing new health & safety. processes and projects, initiatives and tools, company regulations and programs.
15. Cooperating with the main safety engineer, chief safety engineer, company doctor, Works Council, safety officer, company officer, state health & safety office, employers' liability association, specialist associations. and other positions inside and outside the company.
16. Informing all the employees involved in health & safety and environment protection within the company about news from these areas.
