Descripción del empleo

About the Role & Team

Uber's operations are evolving rapidly with new products, new geographies, and new fraud vectors that emerge constantly. As a Senior Risk Operations Associate, you'll sit at the intersection of risk judgment, data, and real-world execution, helping ensure that our marketplace remains risk-aware, fair, and resilient for millions of riders, drivers, couriers and merchants every day.

This role is for someone who has moved past the basics. You don't just follow the rulebook — you understand why the rules exist, recognize when reality deviates from documented patterns, and know how to act with both speed and precision when it does. You operate independently, support the teammates around you, and are energized by the challenge of turning ambiguous, fast-moving situations into clear, defensible decisions.

If you thrive in environments where no two cases are exactly alike, where emerging fraud vectors appear before playbooks are written, and where your judgment genuinely moves the needle — this is where you belong.

What You'll Do
  • Independently resolve the full range of standard and moderately complex risk cases, consistently meeting targets with high accuracy and low error rates.
  • Exercise nuanced risk judgment — apply policy with context, not just compliance; identify when a situation warrants escalation and document your reasoning clearly.
  • Spot emerging patterns, go beyond documented rules to recognize novel fraud signals (e.g., new promo abuse methods, emerging account takeover vectors) and surface them proactively to your team and manager.
  • Drive operational improvements, analyze your own case data to identify gaps, and propose concrete, actionable solutions.
  • Support your teammates, serve as a go-to resource for L1 associates on process questions, contribute to onboarding and informal coaching, and actively participate in team discussions without waiting to be called on.
  • Communicate with precision and adapt your communication style clearly for peers, managers, and cross-functional partners alike.
  • Leverage data and AI tools, use tools like QueryBuilder, uGraph, Cortana, and AI-assisted workflows as active parts of your daily practice; critically evaluate model outputs and flag when scores don't match context.
  • Contribute to a stronger Risk ecosystem and partner cross-functionally with Product, Decision Science, Policy, Legal, and Finance to flag systemic gaps, resolve edge cases, and align on how risk operations support regional growth.
Basic Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of professional experience in risk operations, fraud, payments, trust & safety, or a closely related analytical operations role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on moderately complex cases, with strong attention to detail and a low error rate.
  • Clear, concise written communication skills — particularly for escalation summaries and cross-functional updates.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in high-growth, fast-paced environments — operations at a startup, fintech, marketplace, or digital payments functions.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Excel/Google Sheets for pulling and interpreting data.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted operations tools, with the ability to critically assess model outputs rather than accept them at face value.
  • Experience with Python for lightweight data analysis, automation, or dashboard building.
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • Track record of surfacing process improvements, not just flagging problems, but proposing and following through on solutions.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity: you make sound decisions with imperfect information and stay composed under pressure.
  • A collaborative mindset, you share context proactively, raise issues through proper channels, and invest in the success of the people around you.
Why This Role, Why Now

Uber's Risk operations are evolving rapidly — new products, new geographies, and new fraud vectors emerge constantly. The L2 layer is where pattern recognition meets operational muscle: you're experienced enough to move fast and independent enough to make a real impact, while still being part of a team that invests seriously in your growth toward the next level.

Ready to Ride?

This isn't the kind of place where you follow a playbook — it's where you help write one. If you're driven by impact, energized by challenge, and ready to shape how the world moves — we'd love to hear from you.

You may be eligible for bonuses, equity, and other compensation, as well as a range of benefits. Explore our benefits.

Offices remain key to collaboration and Uber's culture. Unless approved for full remote work, employees must spend at least 50% of their time in-office. Some roles, like those at greenlight hubs, require full-time in-office presence. Ask your Recruiter for details about this role's requirements.
