Job summary

Ford is seeking a Restraints D&R Engineer to design, develop, validate, and release restraints system commodities for new and existing vehicle programs. You will manage timing, release drawings and specifications, and track supplier deliverables to meet program milestones.

You will apply knowledge of FMVSS and IIHS, lead multiple assignments, and collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure quality and cost targets are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or equivalent.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 3+ years of design & release experience for restraints commodities.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements including FMVSS, IIHS.
• Experience with simulation and testing methodologies for restraints and safety systems.
• Strong program management skills; ability to manage multiple assignments and timelines.
• Travel to supplier design/testing locations and manufacturing sites in US, Mexico and Canada.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, validate and release restraints system commodities and subsystems.
• Monitor supplier deliverables and ensure on-time part delivery for each milestone.
• Release DVP&Rs, QA docs and PPAP for mass production.
• Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers on design changes and issue resolutions.
