Chief Engineer – Rio San Juan, Dominican Republic – Up to $4,500 USD per month

We’re hiring a Chief Engineer for a renowned luxury resort nestled on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, known for its elegance, exceptional service, and connection to nature. This is an incredible opportunity for a seasoned engineering professional with high-end resort experience who thrives in remote environments. The role involves overseeing all property maintenance, managing a skilled engineering team, and ensuring the resort’s facilities and systems operate at the highest standard.

What they are looking for:

• Fluent in Spanish and English, with strong communication skills for both guest interaction and corporate reporting
• Educational background in engineering or architecture, with hands-on experience in remote, ultra-luxury property maintenance.
• Strong leadership skills—able to motivate a team while being actively involved in day-to-day operations.
• Experienced in creating and executing preventative maintenance programs and long-term CapEx planning.
• Confident managing budgets, forecasts, and KPIs, with a focus on cost-saving initiatives like energy and water efficiency.
• Broad technical knowledge including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water treatment, pool systems, kitchen/laundry equipment, and landscaping; solar experience is a plus

What they’re offering:

• Competitive monthly salary of USD $4,000–$4,500 (based on experience), plus service charge and a bonus equal to one month’s net salary.
• Relocation assistance and a return flight home each year
• Monthly housing allowance of USD $1,000 net and utilities allowance of USD $200 net.
• 18 days of vacation annually plus 12 public holidays in accordance with Dominican Republic labor law.
