Job summary

Syngenta seeks a Research Associate for its Global Continuous Nursery in Puerto Vallarta. You will supervise field technicians, implement new projects, and coordinate with Agronomy and Operations to ensure timely escalation of issues.

The role emphasizes data-driven crop performance, team development, and hands-on nursery activities across corn, soybean, and sunflower crops.

Qualifications

• BS in Agronomy, Biotechnology, Corn, Breeding or related field with track record of delivery.
• Good understanding of agriculture, crop management and plant breeding principles.
• Knowledge of seed crop research, production, and QA practices.
• Knowledge of corn, soybean, and sunflower seed production.
• Knowledge of data management software.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Corn Technician and temporaries to achieve KPIs.
• Implement/develop new projects in nursery operations.
• Collaborate with Agronomy and Operations teams to escalate issues.
• Identify, train and develop Research Technicians to improve supervision skills.
• Handle planting, pollination, detasseling and harvest of nurseries.
• Plan supplies and people resources with Crop Lead.
• Communicate crop updates and key issues to Crop Lead.
• Measure and report crop performance using global KPIs.
• Participate in planning to drive continuous improvement.

Job Description

To support this mission, Syngenta's Global Continuous Nursery team is seeking a Research Associate in Puerto Vallarta.

Accountabilities

• Supervise all Corn Technician and temporaries appropriately to ensure the KPIs.
• Implement/develop new projects.
• Active communication with Agronomy and Operations teams to ensuring key issues are escalated in a timely manner.
• Identify ,train and develop Research Technician to maximize their supervision skills and team integration and attention to details when leading fields.
• Responsible for planting, pollinations, detasseling and harvesting of all nurseries.
• Partner with Crop Lead in the planning of supplies and people resources. (temporary employes).
• Make crop updates and communicate important issues to Crop Lead.
• Measure, track, improve and communicate crop performance through globally consistent & aligned Operational KPI's
• Active participation in the Planning part of Crop activities to share ideas and drive continuous improvement mindset

Qualifications

Required

• BS in Agronomy, Biotechnology, Corn, Breeding or related field or in relevant science with a track-record of delivery.
• Good understanding of agriculture, crop management and plant breeding principles.
• Knowledge of seed crop research, production, and quality assurance practices.
• Knowledge and experience in corn, soybean, and sunflower seed production.
• Knowledge of and ability to use computer software for data management.
• Communication skills with experience in people management.
• Quality and effectiveness of communication and collaboration with all stakeholders.
• Excellent skills for interpreting research data.

Desired

• M.S. in agriculture crop science or biology related to field (desired).
• Ability to use MS Office, especially Word, Excel, Power Point, and other standard office software
• English proficient written and speaking.
• Cross-cultural skills.
• Travel availability (national and international).
• Driver's license.
• Flexible schedule to work over extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
