Key Responsibilities:
  1. Reinsurance Accounting
    • Manage reinsurance accounting for Mexico, including setting up treaties and facultative reinsurance contracts in the ceded reinsurance accounting system (XL Pro and VT), ensuring accuracy of contract details.
    • Validate contract setup and calculations, ensuring consistency with contract documentation.
    • Ensure timely quarterly financial reconciliations supporting US GAAP and local standards.
    • Collaborate with relevant departments to interpret and recognize complex reinsurance agreements.
    • Account for ceded balances outside of XL Pro.
  2. Reporting and Statements
    • Prepare and analyze financial reports related to reinsurance activities.
    • Deliver management reports to guide reinsurance strategy.
    • Prepare ceded accounts, bordereaux, and related payments.
    • Support actuarial and financial reporting requirements.
    • Ensure timely collection and payment of balances.
    • Support system implementation and process improvements.
    • Maintain compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
    • Assist with audits, MI, documentation, and reconciliations.
    • Review binding documentation for regulatory and tax compliance.
    • Coordinate regulatory submissions and reinsurance tax processes.
    • Validate reinsurance financial statement notes for compliance.
Skills and Experience:
  • Qualified accountant or related field.
  • Experience in property and casualty insurance or reinsurance accounting preferred.
  • Understanding of ceded reinsurance accounting functions.
  • Knowledge of XL Pro or similar RI systems is desirable.
  • SQL knowledge is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with a desire for continuous learning.
